Before setup
Step 1: Create an integration-specific user in Addepar
For integrations set up at the firm-level or integrations using an API key, we recommend creating an integration-specific user account and email address for the setup. This helps avoid disruptions to the integration.
Create the user
- Go to Firm Administration > Users > Create User.
- Name the user after the integration and fill in the user details. For example, the name might be 'Integration Name' and the email address ‘integration.name@yourfirm.com.'
- Check the box to include the login information in the welcome email and create the user.
Set user permissions
- Set the user permissions for this integration. It's recommended to set 'view-only' level permissions unless otherwise specified here or by the integration provider. If the integration setup uses an API key, make sure to enable API key access.
- API access is required for this user
- Bulk data extraction access also required
- Find the welcome email and sign in to Addepar with the temporary password. Then, reset the user's password and store it securely.
- Start the integration setup signed in as the new user.
Step 2: Create an API key and secret in Addepar
An API key and secret are two alphanumeric codes used to authorize the transfer of data. Signed in as the user created for the integration setup, create an API key for this integration.
Note: Set the API access user permission to create API keys.
- Go to Firm Administration > API Access Key
- Click the '+' plus icon in the upper right-hand corner of the table.
- Give the key a name. We recommend naming it after the application or purpose you're using it for.
- Securely store the API Key and Secret. Once you click 'Done,' the secret will no longer appear, so you need to save it now.
- Click Done.
Accessing Co-Pilot
After setting up the integration user and sharing the API key/secret, the FlyerFT team will complete the integration setup. User access to Co-Pilot will be provided to any user with Portfolio Management entitlements. Once logged in, users will be able to see holdings and cash balances from Addepar and use the integrated data to construct trades
Initiating a data resync
Co-Pilot will automatically pull data from Addepar daily (typically around 8:30 EST). If data is updated in Addepar and should be reflected in Co-Pilot, users can reach out to copilotsupport@flyerft.com or call 1-888-349-3593 and request data to be resynced. An SOD history monitor in Co-Pilot will indicate when Addepar data has been reloaded.
Disconnect your Addepar integration
Delete integration user or API key. Any security-defining attributes will stay in Co-pilot, but trading and position data would be wiped if the key is removed.
